What is 'Freetail'?

'Freetail' - A Free Retail Revolution!

Our Pioneering 'Freetail' shopping experience is one of a kind; a retail store providing preloved and new items of adult, baby and children's clothing, as well as home furnishings, toiletries, period products, work wear, school uniform and baby items such as prams and cots

but everything is free to those who need it!

We want to remove the stigma attached to clothing banks and see 'Community Powered Clothing Hubs' as a great way to be frugal, fashionable and fight for our Planet, all at the same time!

Since our inception we have re-gifted over OVER 1 MILLION items, donated by the Community, back into the Community

We estimate to have saved over £2 MILLION OF GOODS FROM LANDFILL!

Our Motto is - 'Give what you can, take what you need'

Our Free Clothing bank

The Hummingbird Project Freetail Hub has on average 800 visitors each month who use our clothing bank, and receive on average 500 bags of donations per month.

In addition we receive around 120 requests per month from local schools, social services and other local services throughout Glossopdale and Tameside.

We do not charge for any of our items and we never will. Our items will always be available to anyone who needs them.

Our Free Baby Bank

Each month our Team help over 150 families to access free baby clothes and baby equipment.  Thanks to your donations, we are able to provide clothing from Prem to 18 months; prams, cots, cribs, Moses baskets, baths, strollers and maternity clothing. We also have a wide range of nappies, wipes, baby toiletries and baby feeding items

We do not charge for any of our items and we never will. Our items will always be available to anyone who needs them.

Everyone is Welcome!

We provide support to everyone without barriers: -

  • We help the homeless community, the Ukranian community, our local community.
  • Those fleeing domestic abuse.
  • No and low income families.
  • Those whose salaries just don't go as far as they used to.
  • Those who don't have the cash at the time for new shoes or uniform.
  • Those whose circumstances change suddenly.
  • Those who prefer to buy 2nd hand and give us a monetary donation in return for items.
  • Those who give us their children's outgrown items and swap for the next size up.
  • Those parents who never get anything for themselves because the kids come first.
  • Those who now consider clothing, toys, books and games to be luxury items that can be rarely afforded. Those who want to be frugal.
  • Those who are passionate about slow, sustainable fashion and clothes recycling.

Local support

Everything in our 'Freetail' Hub has been donated by our Community and local Business!
