Our services
Clothing bank
The Hummingbird Project North West have on average 800 visitors each month who use our clothing bank, and receive on average 500 bags of donations and 100 items of baby equipmemt per month. In addition we receive around 120 requests per month from local schools, social services and other local services throughout Glossopdale and Tameside.
We do not charge for any of our items and we never will. Our items will always be available to anyone who needs them.
Community aid
We provide support to everyone without barriers: -
- We help the homeless community, the Ukranian community, our local community.
- Those fleeing domestic abuse.
- No and low income families.
- Those whose salaries just don't go as far as they used to.
- Those who don't have the cash at the time for new shoes or uniform.
- Those whose circumstances change suddenly.
- Those who prefer to buy 2nd hand and give us a monetary donation in return for items.
- Those who give us their children's outgrown items and swap for the next size up.
- Those parents who never get anything for themselves because the kids come first.
- Those who now consider clothing, toys, books and games to be luxury items that can be rarely afforded. Those who want to be frugal.
- Those who are passionate about slow, sustainable fashion and clothes recycling.
Local support
The Hummingbird Project began 2 years ago when we have gifted the local community with over 4000 easter eggs, over 6000 Christmas gifts for children and elderley, and over 100 laptops and 100 mobile phones for local schools during lockdown. It was then that we were approached by a local school to provide a clothing pack for a pupil.... and the clothing bank was born.
We provide clothing, footwear and coats for all ages, both children and adults. A full selection of baby clothes and baby equipment from newborn upwards, new mum and baby packs, work wear and interview wear, and primary and secondary school uniform for all of the local schools. Plus a toy, book and games library.
Our toiletries and period products are always available without charge. They are provided through donations and bought using monetary donations and money raised by recycling our rags.
